It Isn't but it does not shift around and therefore I believe u will not have any issues with scratches. I love mine and I don't have any issues with scratches.

The whole thing was smaller than I expected, but it's sturdy. I use it to hang 3 standard size bath towels, some pajamas and a messenger bag. I suspect it would be fine with larger towels.

The would work well for bath towels; it is quite sturdy, as we use it to hang heavy coats. I hadn't thought of using it for towels but may opt to buy another one for that purpose!!

I've never used it for towels but tried. Without crowding, it can hold three towels. They won't fit entirely inside the knobs but seem to stay. Five knobs will not hold five large towels.

i bought it to hold my bathrobe, it hold 2 big towels a robe and whatever else you want the knobs are not big but it does serve its purpose like it thought it was a great buy.
